Ingredients

  • 340 grams minced beef approx.
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 large carrot finely chopped
  • 1 stick celery finely chopped
  • oregano or Italian herbs
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tin chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp ketchup or tomato pureé
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 56 grams butter
  • 2 - 3 tbsp flour
  • 850 ml milk
  • 170 grams cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp Parmigiano Reggiano
  • lasagne sheets

Instructions

  • Fry the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery until they become soft
  • Add the beef and brown it, while adding seasoning, salt, and pepper
  • Add the tomatoes and ketchup, and let it simmer for 20 minutes or longer
  • Prepare a thin white sauce by melting the butter, stirring in the flour until absorbed, and slowly adding the milk along with the bay leaf and pepper
  • In a buttered shallow dish, create alternating layers of meat, uncooked lasagne sheets, and white sauce. Finish with a layer of pasta and white sauce, ensuring that the lasagne sheets are well-covered as the liquid cooks the pasta
  • Cover the dish with cheese and bake it at 180°C (350°F) for 30 minutes
